How we design our collections

How we design our collections

If eyes really are the windows to our soul, we bet shoes are the doors to our style. But how do they turn into stylish clouds for our feet? Here you can learn more about the many stages involved in our art of shoemaking.

From sandals to boots, the colors and shapes of our collections are inspired by the latest fashion trends, with our unique touch of irreverence and comfort. Creating your own brand, keeping up with the trends, and knowing your customers’ needs can be a time-consuming and complex process.

Each collection has unique characteristics: a more attractive color palette, a more used material, a shape that stands out, or a detail that catches the eye. Next comes ideation, where we transform our ideas into something visual. With extensive knowledge and experience in this field, our Spanish designer discusses the best options with the rest of the team in an inspiring environment where everyone can share their ideas and is able to think outside the box, on our way to something greater.

After agreeing on the visual and technical design, we start searching for the best materials. Now imagine three best friends shopping for the best and more sustainable New Year’s Eve dress in the market. Can you imagine how long this would take? It’s more or less like this, with the exception that we don’t stop to talk about our exes or childhood crushes. Just kidding. We sometimes do…

So, in this process, we believe that it is our responsibility to choose sustainable materials that will ultimately speak volumes about our footwear. For instance, we only use leathers from tanneries certified to the Leather Working Group (LWG), a not-for-profit organization responsible for the world's leading environmental certification for the leather manufacturing industry.

The group seeks to improve the leather manufacturing industry by creating alignment on environmental priorities, bringing visibility to best practices and providing suggested guidelines for continual improvement. We work with the best suppliers in the market to offer premium materials that will last for years to come while promoting environmental care. This is what sets us apart from our competitors.

The next step in this creative process is prototyping. After a thorough evaluation of the compatibility of designs, materials, and production technologies, we start to bring the sketch to life. First, we will use a mockup shoe model.
This stage will help us understand if the design is transferable into reality in terms of physical feasibility and we don’t stop until we build the perfect shoe for upmost comfort and durability. We don’t settle for anything less than perfection and, as you know, perfection takes time!

Now we can start prototyping it by creating the molds through stamping, sewing, and assembling. This complex process involves a lot of techniques and we are proud to have life-experienced artists in this shoe-making process working with us.
Then, aligned once more with our environmental and human health care concerns, our shoes are REACH-compliant, meaning that they are chemically safe for our clients and the environment.

We’re almost there! The next step is the fitting, where we test the comfort of our shoes and make sure there are no gaps, wrinkles, or loose spots.

When all is said and done, we take a deep breath, cry more than a few happy tears, and just enjoy the next step: present our collection to the world and make our customers happier than ever with the most practical and timeless footwear!
Now you understand a little more why this can be considered an art.. because it really is!
